Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
